      • About the Choir

        Choral Artists Of Carmel

        Robin McKee Williams, Conductor and Director

        Directed by Robin McKee Williams, the choir enriches the community with beautiful music, while showcasing local talent and world-class musicians. The repertoire spans five centuries from early baroque to pop, with an emphasis on classical choral works.

         

        Originally founded and performing as the Hartnell Community Choir, the Choral Artists of Carmel have appeared in concerts at Ely Cathedral in Cambridge; England, Avery Fisher Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York City; Steinbeck Center and Hartnell College in Salinas; and churches on the Monterey Peninsula. Building upon the backbone of her dedicated choir, McKee Williams includes soloists and musicians locally, nationally and internationally. She includes musicians and composers she has learned about from her participation in the Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) mentoring program for conducting.

        Robin McKee Williams, Conductor and Director

        Robin McKee Williams, MA, CMVT, is a musical director and mezzo-soprano soloist for the Monterey Peninsula and San Francisco areas. She is active in the Distinguished Concerts International New York mentoring program. She recently completed her 9th tour with American Tapestry Choir directed by Joseph Martin with performances in Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Germany, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria, the Basilica in Italy, Washington DC and Alaska, Her training includes the Royal Conservatory of Music, Stanford University, San Jose State University and the McClosky Institute of Boston.

         

        She has been the soloist and alto section leader at the Rockefeller Chapel at The University of Chicago and performed with Elmer Iseler and the Toronto Symphony and the Toronto Operetta Theater. She was the regular soloist for the Bing Music Series at the Stanford Hospital for six years. She has directed musical theater at the Forest Theater, Carmel Ballet Academy, and The Western Stage. She is presently the conductor of the Choral Artists of Carmel. She is an expert at training singers from beginning to professional levels as well as repairing injured speaking and singing voices. She continues to teach privately in Monterey and Mountain View.
